Meet Kai, my new Border Collie puppy! 🐾❤️ and yes, this one is here to stay…

I’m so excited to introduce you all to Kai, the newest member of our family and future star of Clever Canine Co. At just a few months old, he’s full of energy, curiosity, and ready to start his journey with me as his trainer.
Since he’s still a puppy, we’re focusing on the basics for now:
🐕 Building Confidence: Helping him explore new environments calmly.
✅ Crate Training: Creating a safe space for him to relax.
🍃 Socialisation: Meeting other dogs and people in a positive way.
🚫 Impulse Control: Working on “sit,” “wait,” and “leave it” to encourage good manners.
🎾 Recall: Starting the foundation for a solid “come” command.
As he grows, we’ve got big plans to get involved in dog sports like Rally, Tricks and Tracking, which are perfect for his high energy and intelligence! 🐕🏃‍♂️ Can’t wait to add some titles to the end of his name!

Winston from my puppy school in August came to stay with me over the long weekend 🐕
It’s so crazy to see how big he’s gotten in just a month!
He had the best time playing with Kai, my border collie puppy, as well as coming on adventures with Kai and I. We went to the skatepark, the cafe and practised recall in the field near my house. It was a blessing to have him here 💕 (plus I’m pretty sure Arch was happy to get a break from Kai) 😏

We are working on her reactivity to people and other dogs as well as teaching her the valuable “off switch” to ensure she can maintain a calm state of mind outside her training adventures. She picked up the concept of loose lead walking before the session even ended. I’m so proud of this cutie and her amazing owner 🥹💕

“Leave It” – The Must-Have Skill for Every Dog 🐾🚫

🐾 Yesterday in Puppy School, we taught the puppies “Leave it”.
🏔️Later on my hike, I used this command to prevent Archer from potentially chasing wildlife. You can see in this video he picks up the scent of something (probably a wallaby or kangaroo). Now my dog LOVES the chase, which is pretty normal for his breed. It’s a lot easier to stop his prey drive BEFORE it starts than it is it recall him out of it mid chase.
🐕 This is where our “Leave It” comes in.
